Vignette 4

Vignette four is very simple. Like in many other scenarios, the teacher has modified the student’s mark based on the fact that the student did not appear to be listing in class. The mark the student received was much lower than they were actually performing at in regards to the outcomes because the teacher did not view the student highly. It is without question that achievement grades should be based solely on the performance of the student, and whether or not they are meeting the outcomes set by the Alberta government. Placing comments that describe the student’s work ethic and classroom habits is suitable, but the grade itself should be based on the actual achievement of the student and should be unaffected by the opinions of the teacher.
